What kind of parent would do this to a child?

There is a lot of info going on the Internet about a boarding school named "Wings of Faith Academy". It is a girl-only boarding school which previous was run under the name "Refruge of Grace Academy".

There is a petition going on against them and there are some of the comments. I am shocked:

Thoroughly investigate previous & current conditions & allegations of physical, emotional, & psychological abuse occurring at both Wings of Faith Academy & Agape Boarding School in Stockton, MO.

I was a student at AGAPE about 4 months ago and it has affected tremendously in a negative way beyond words can explain.

This Place is extremely hateful twords LGBT. The amount of hate crimes against LGBT that go on here unbelievable! The staff are the biggest part of the problem. They preach hate services and what they do is wrong and should be stopped! I could understand if it was coming from the students but all the staff are strongly against that and there was no support! I know a lot of people don't care about LGBT as students but you shouldn't be forced to stay. Agape literally ruined my life. When I turned 18 I had no money, driver license, hair and self esteem.

I attended Refuge of Grace academy formerly known as wings of faith. I had a traumatic experience there as well and want to prevent other young girls from going there and being hurt.

Because I attended the Refuge of Grace Academy when they were located in NC, MI and WV. They physically and mentally abused me during the 3 years I was there and they are continuing to do it to others today.

To end the ongoing abuse that I endured for 22 months at this horrible so called school that haunts me everyday. I want to see that these schools that damage young girls are shut down for good and justice will be served.

Agape Boarding School perpetuates child maltreatment! The Missouri Department of Social Services, Children’s Division should investigate allegations of physical and emotional abuse perpetrated by the staff at Agape. This abuse, and the trauma associated with it, has had far-reaching negative impacts for the young men who endured this “school.” No more children should be subjected this abuse! Investigate Agape!

I attended Agape and can confirm the needless abuse. I once saw a 6'5" former marine pick up a 12 year old, 120lb kid over his shoulder and slam him to the ground. I saw kids pushed down a flight of stairs. I saw someone who talked about running and as punishment was only allowed to wear underwear, a robe, and shoes with no shoe laces IN THE WINTER.

I attended when it was known as Refuge Independent Baptist Girls Academy back in 1995 and 1996. Received a spanking there at the age of 18! Was told that if I decided to leave I would not be given my mail. They kept my books and other personal items when I left and spread lies about me. We only ate twice on Sunday and the worse part was smelling their food after we had been put into our rooms. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease while I was there and they allowed me to fill my prescription for pain medication and then told me I was not allowed to take it. Not sure who took my controlled substance after that. I still can’t believe my parents would send me to such a place. At that time there were 10 people living in a single wide three bedroom trailer in TN and our windows were nailed shut and we were deadbolted in. If there had been a fire we would have all perished. Social services came in and we were told if we said anything we would be taken away and would never see our families again. So out of fear we said nothing. I have thought about writing a book about the horrors I lived in my 2 years there.

I went to Wings Of Faith about 9 months ago and the staff always picked on me and they would always discourage me and put me down. Debbie Martin lied to my parents and said I needed extra help so she could get more money from my parents. THIS ABUSIVE PLACE NEEDS TO GET SHUT DOWN. I HAVE NIGHTMARES FROM THIS PLACE.

    A MOM’S EXPERIENCE (Saturday, 10 October 2020 07:33)

What a nightmare!!!!! I had to get an attorney to make Debbie Martin, the owner, abide by a court order!!!! She is an uneducated money grabbing piece of work that wears Jesus on her sleeve! BEWARE!!!! It is RIDICULOUS! The education is on par with a bad public school. The girls were never let outside and were barely allowed to speak! My daughter was never a candidate for a troubled teen school. My ex husband’s wife put my daughter there without my permission!!!! I had no idea where my daughter was for a full month! When I finally found her Debbie Martin was sent the court order! She would not comply! IT TOOK A ATTORNEY TO FORCE HER TO COMPLY!!!! WHO THE HELL DOES SHE THINK SHE IS???? GOD

I went to this place for 11 months. A lot if it was rough. I remember one girl got a hymnal thrown at her by a pastor, one staff threatened me and said if a made another face i would be thinking black. I was made to do jumping for 30 minutes straight no stopping. I was told I would never make it in the real world because I was too much of a spoiled brat. I know of one girl they didn't allow her to eat because she wouldn't do a workout. I self- harmed while i was there and i was told straight to my face that I was look for attention because i was an attention seeker and that they were going to give me attention but just not the attention I wanted. I was told when I found out all our visits were canceled and I started to cry, i was told i was feeling sorry for myself and to stop crying. I don't always look at the bad that happened here. There were a lot of good times as well. I met my best friend and i was supported in a lot of hard times. I wouldn't want to go back but I also don't want to change my experience. It made me grow as a young women.

This sounds like animal abuse, why are these horrible people allowed to treat PEOPLE like this, how do they sleep at night??? This tells me that they were abused in their young life and they need special help themselves..
Please SHUT this horrible place DOWN. Shouldn’t be that hard!!

I arrived at wings of faith when I was 14. Only a week after I tried to commit suicide by taking over a hundred pills. Within my first week Debbie and Brianna sat on me and held me down for 20 minutes. Separated me from everyone and did not let me eat that day. They held down so many kids and threw them. Then would laugh about it and make fun of the 11 YEAR OLDS FOR CRYING. I have been gone for about 3 years now after staying for a year. I still have SO MUCH TRAMUA! I have nightmares almost every night. They took me off my medication for depression, because it was too much work to have to refill it and give it to me. And they promoted counseling? NEVER! You are lucky if you get to talk for 5 minutes a day, no physical affection as in HUGS. nothing. This place is horrible please do not send your kids here. I am now on 6 different psyc medications! THANKS WOF you did so much to mess me up even more! Someone needs to get them shut down.
